World Food Day: 11 interesting insights

The food we feed our bodies with on a daily basis, and especially the way we prepare it, are non-negligible aspects that help determine our mental and physical health. Let’s get to know ourselves and foods and not settle: let’s choose well.

What principles can guide us toward a balanced diet that is good for body and mind, and that allows us to experience all the days and experiences we want to have in the best possible way?

Eat Pink, on the occasion of World Food Day, suggests the 11 cornerstones identified by the Ministry of Health to bring taste and health to the table:

  1. It is essential to seek a varied and balanced diet, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
  2. Well begun is half done: a full breakfast, enjoyed leisurely, gives the body a way to deal with the many daily tasks with energy and effectiveness.
  3. 4-5 are the portions of fruits and vegetables we should consume every day. Even better if they are in season and as local as possible, to also follow the rhythm of the environment.
  4. Hydration. We drink at least one and a half liters of water daily and, most importantly, without waiting until we feel thirsty.
  5. Imagination at the stove: cooking with colorful ingredients, aromas, scents and creativity puts one in a good mood and makes mealtime even more special.
  6. Flavor yes, but without overdoing it with seasonings. Let’s try spices: they are a great ally for enriching recipes while not altering their nutritional intake.
  7. We limit (without eliminating) salt consumption, and prefer iodized salt.
  8. Let’s try to change certain habits in grocery shopping, experiment with alternatives: for example, increasing the availability of fruits and vegetables in the pantry is a great way to reduce the consumption of sweets and sugary drinks, without sacrificing taste and gaining in well-being.
  9. We limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages by baptizing special occasions to do so.
  10. We involve children and loved ones in our moments in the kitchen: the little ones will discover the world of food through colors, shapes and textures, and with the older ones we will strengthen bonds and share insights.
  11. We learn to read food labels and never go blindly in choosing what we buy.

Eat Pink fits into this context of good, healthy eating with its 100% Italian lean pink meat: a concentrate of benefits and taste. Pork is in fact indicated for its high intake of proteins with high biological value, as well as being a very versatile food, for all seasons and combinations. With an ongoing commitment to donations and communication, the company is also at the forefront of the fight against food waste.
